Winter tires

Studded or friction tires?

Studded tires give the best grip on ice and are ideal if you often drive on icy roads in the countryside. Friction tires (Nordic non-studded) are quieter, work very well on snow and wet roads, and are allowed all winter in city centres where studs may be restricted.

In Sweden winter tires are mandatory 1 December – 31 March when winter road conditions apply. Studded tires may be used 1 October – 15 April.
